ISO 9001, 14001, 9961, 50001 and OHSAS 18001 / ISO 45001 certifications
All of our mills are ISO 9001 (quality standard) and 14001-certified (environmental standard) and either OHSAS18001/ISO45001.
Each mill carries other additional certifications: for example our Stoneywood Mill is ISO 50001-certified (energy standard) and ESOS compliant and our Quzhou Mill and Chartham Mill where our translucent papers are produced are ISO 9961-certified. Find out more about each mill’s specific certifications here.
Fully FSC™-certified (Forestry Stewardship Council)
All of our products are made of materials from well-managed, FSC-certified forests and other controlled sources. This guarantees that pulp is sourced from well-managed forests and a socially responsible chain of production, from seedling to paper. Chain of custody certification from forest to end-user ensures that FSC materials and products have been checked at every stage of processing.
PEFC (Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification)
PEFC seeks to transform the way forests are managed globally – and locally – to ensure that all of us can enjoy the environmental, social, and economic benefits that forests offer.
Our Stoneywood Mill, Guarro Casas Mill and Chartham Mill are PEFC-certified and can provide PEFC certificates for bespoke products (subject to MOQ).
Recycled papers
Our recycled papers are certified post-consumer waste under our FSC certification. We produce high-quality recycled grades using premium post-consumer waste pulp to preserve the properties of our creative and specialist papers. A careful selection of waste and specific de-inking processes ensure the cleanliness of the pulp and its excellent printability.
REACH and RoHS-compliant
All Arjowiggins’ mills comply with the REACH European regulation which covers registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction processes for chemical substances and risk of hazardous substances.
Stoneywood Mill, which manufactures our PowerCoat smart paper range, is RoHS Kitemark-compliant.
The EU directive for the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment, known as RoHS, is designed to protect human health and the environment, and is linked to the directive on the disposal of electrical and electronic waste. It controls the use of certain hazardous substances – including metals and manufactured chemicals (Restrictions of Hazardous Substances)
ECF (Elemental Chlorine Free)
All our papers are ECF. Our production processes do not use elemental chlorine gas during the bleaching process, preventing the formation of dioxins, dioxin-like compounds and carcinogens.
Carbon Neutral
Conqueror, our leading fine paper, is certified carbon neutral in : UK & Eire, Germany, Austria, Benelux, Switzerland and Nordics.
We offset the Conqueror carbon emissions through the Renewable Energy Portfolio which supports renewable energy projects across the globe that decrease our dependence on fossil fuels.
The projects supported meet the requirements of the ICROA (International Carbon Reduction & Offset Alliance) and are aligned with SDGs (United Nations Sustainable Development Goals) 7, 9, 11 and 13.
Between 2020 and 2021, with various Climate Impact Partners we have offset 11 479 tonnes of CO2.
